3 Days Jungle Camping in the National Park

Highlights:  This 3-days trek leads into the heart of Nam Ha NPA where you can see more than 1,000 years old big trees, water falls, wildlife, herbs, stranger plants, scenery mountain views and valleys of streams thick forests. You will also be able to learn about traditional, culture, life style of khmu people, forest ecosystems, birds and animals from the local Khmu guides. Walk through the forest; you will collect your food and enjoy the taste of special forest spices, while you relax in the fresh mountain air.

DAY 1: Walk about 5-6 hours to Camping Site

At 8:00AM, depart from the office by Tuk tuk or Mini Van heading south towards Muang vieng phu kha, stopping at Ban phoulet, a traditional village of the Khmu ethnic group, where the village based-guide will join your group. First, you hike through rice paddies, then up into the mountains of the NamHa NPA, where monkey, deer, birds, etc, have been reported. If you walk quietly, and luck is on your side, you might hear and see them. There will be delicious traditional meals with some vegetables and spices we collect with the help of the local  guide. Stay at the comfortable jungle camp. One guide will be at the camp to collect fire woods for  prepare and cooking dinners and other  who is English speaking  guide will take to hike up to the misty mountain top for thirty minutes higher from Camp 2, 000  meters. On the misty mountain peak there is a great place to explore natural paradise, colorful sunset and panoramic view on the misty mountain top excellent view  and return  to the camp and have dinner together. sleeping in the jungle low is very quiet and meditative. you will hear insects and dears are barking in the night.

DAY 2: Trek to Homestay Village

Early in the morning, you can do a short walk with an Lahu bird-caller. After your local guide  served a breakfast, we continue to walk through the Nam Ha jungle Protected Area, where you will see you will see and walking on the old French route, through bamboo forest and sometimes you will   meet wild monkey, deer, birds, etc, have been reported. If you walk quietly, and luck is on your side, you might hear and see them. After a picnic lunch along the trek, in the afternoon you will reach Khmu village,  and walk around the village to see the people do their daily activities. This village is settled inside the valley in the NamHa National Protected Area. Here, a Khmu  guide will join us and you get a chance to taste traditional Khmu  prepared food.  And  spend your  second  night , you sleep with Khmu camp and enjoy dinner with  khamu and your guide in the jungle .

DAY 3: Nature hiking 

After breakfast, we continue to walk with rainforest, along the way you will learn more about plants, trees, fruits and animals, after three hours we have a break for having lunch serving by Khmu guide. After lunch you will walk get a lot of different experiences after that you will continue walk up and go down  from Khmu village where the mini bus is waiting and  get you be back to visiting  Vieng Phou Kha and return us  to Luang Namtha end your tour.

What to prepare on the trip:

  • Bring at least 2-3 liters of water per day. For your first day, the tour operator will provide around 2 water bottles. Please, keep always the empty bottle so you can refill the next day
  • A good pair of shoes for walking
  • A hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Mosquito repellent/Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Toilet paper
  • Raincoat (in rainy season, June-Sep)
